What is your favourite place in the region?
We have many favourites, but Skjennungstua and Tryvannstua are high on the list. Both are located deep in Nordmarka and make perfect hiking destinations, whether you are walking or cycling.
You will find welcoming cabins serving something warm to drink and fresh baked goods that taste especially good after a walk in the forest. The atmosphere is relaxed, nature is close, and the breaks often become longer than planned.
What is your favourite activity or experience?
Two places we always recommend are Roseslottet and the climbing park at Tryvann.
Roseslottet is a powerful outdoor art installation with strong historical meaning and wide views over Oslo. The climbing park offers a more playful summer experience with treetop courses, zip lines, and a real sense of achievement for both children and adults.
Any forest or outdoor tips?
A bike ride in Nordmarka is a great way to experience the area, whether you prefer quiet gravel roads along lakes and forest or more technical terrain.
There are many marked routes to choose from, and we are happy to recommend options for both beginners and experienced cyclists. The trip can easily be combined with a coffee stop or a swim in a quiet forest lake.”
What local speciality should guests try?
At Lysebu, we are proud to serve food that reflects the place we are in. Our restaurant offers seasonal dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, many from our own kitchen garden.
