What is your favourite place in the region?
- We love the viewpoint near Osa – a hidden gem where fjord and mountains meet in a dramatic and beautiful landscape. It is a place where you truly feel the scale of Norwegian nature. A RIB boat trip on the fjord is also a must when staying with us, offering a different perspective from the water.
What is your favourite activity or experience?
- Visiting fruit and cider farms in Ulvik is a unique experience along Norway’s only dedicated fruit and cider route. Walking from farm to farm through the lush landscape, tasting locally produced cider and meeting the farmers, creates a strong connection to both place and tradition.
Any hiking tips?
- We highly recommend the hike to Kvasshovden (1030 metres above sea level). It is a moderately demanding hike with spectacular views over Hardangerfjord, Ulvik, and the surrounding mountains.
For a shorter walk, the Åsen loop is also beautiful and suitable for most guests.
What local speciality should guests try?
- A meal at Brakanes Hotel is an experience in itself, featuring seasonal dishes made from local ingredients.
We especially recommend Hardanger lamb, served in our restaurant. It is tender, flavourful, and prepared with respect for tradition and quality – a true taste of the region.
