Why should guests visit your region and hotel this summer?
- Stryn is known for iconic attractions such as Lodalen, Loen Skylift, Olden, and Briksdalen. But there is much more to discover beyond the well-known highlights. The municipality is large, with many side valleys and traditional mountain farms, offering plenty of opportunities for an active holiday – whether you prefer hiking, cycling, or kayaking.
You are also close to both Nordfjord and Sunnmøre, making it ideal for day trips. You can explore the coast with surfing in Hoddevik or visit Selje Monastery. Or take a day trip to Geiranger, stopping at Dalsnibba and Hjelle in Oppstryn along the way.
What is your favourite place in the region?
- It is difficult to choose just one. We can recommend many places depending on the weather and the type of experience you are looking for.
What many visitors do not realise is how short the distance is from fjord and mountains in Stryn to the outer coast of Nordfjord. The contrast in landscape is striking and fascinating.
What is your favourite activity or experience?
- Loen Skylift is a must, along with all the activities available there. For those seeking adventure, the via ferrata route offers a challenging climb. For those taking the cable car, there are several well-marked hiking trails at the top with stunning views.
Any hiking tips?
- We recommend a hike to Bødalsbreen glacier, a lesser-known side valley of Lodalen. It is an easy and scenic walk in beautiful terrain, with summer farms and grazing animals along the way.
What local speciality should guests try?
- The region has many excellent restaurants, and here at Visnes Hotel we serve dishes based on local ingredients.
In late summer, you should try raspberries from local producers. We also recommend pairing your meal with products from Gardsbrenneriet in Sandane, especially their high-quality non-alcoholic apple cider. Their products are also available to buy directly from the producer.
