Why should guests visit your region and hotel this summer?
- Hadeland has a truly unique cultural landscape, and summer is the best time to experience it. Thorbjørnrud Hotell is beautifully located at the end of Lake Randsfjorden, surrounded by calm countryside while still close to attractions and experiences.
We are also the only hotel in Norway with our own vineyard, with more than 6,000 vines including Solaris, Rondo, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Felicia.
Here you can enjoy locally sourced food made with organic vegetables from our own farm, served with views of the fjord, whether you stay in a hotel room or one of our glamping tents.
Just seven minutes away is Kistefos Museum, known for contemporary art, its sculpture park, and The Twist, internationally recognised for its architecture. We are the closest hotel to the museum, and many guests combine their stay with a visit there.
What is your favourite place in the region?
- Hadeland Glassverk is only a five-minute walk from the hotel and has shared a close connection with us since 1765.
It is Norway’s oldest continuously operating craft business and a must-visit for anyone interested in culture and design. You can watch live glassblowing demonstrations and even try blowing your own glass. The area also offers shops, local food, drinks, and interior design.
What is your favourite activity or experience?
- Randsfjord Water Park, Northern Europe’s largest outdoor water park, is just a ten-minute walk from the hotel along the lake.
It is a great experience for families, with activities for all ages, including a separate area for younger children. This year they have introduced a brand-new attraction, making it an especially good season to combine a hotel stay with a visit to the park.
Any hiking or outdoor tips?
- We are located close to Nordmarka, with many scenic trails and viewpoints nearby.
You can drive up to Tverrsjøstallen and continue on foot to enjoy hiking, fishing, and peaceful nature experiences. They even have a dedicated fishing area for guests with reduced mobility. We have also collected several other hiking suggestions for our guests.
What local speciality should guests try?
- At our restaurant, you can taste the best of Hadeland through a seasonal four-course menu featuring organic vegetables from our own farm, meat from local producers, and cheeses from Thorbjørnrud Dairy.
We also produce our own beer and wine to pair with the food.
On request, dinner can also be served in our new orangery in the garden, a beautiful space with seating for up to 32 guests.
