Why should guests visit your region and hotel this summer?
- On Nes and Helgøya, in the middle of Lake Mjøsa, Hoel Gård is surrounded by a diverse cultural landscape in every direction. This is often called Norway’s ‘Tuscany’, a landscape many visitors do not expect to find on the eastern side of the country.
What is your favourite place in the region?
- A must-visit in summer is Skafferiet on Helgøya, a rural café located on one of our neighbouring farms, or a stop at Hovelsrud Garden just a short distance away.
We recommend exploring the area by bike, and we provide bicycles for our guests when needed.
What is your favourite activity or experience?
- We recommend visiting our small private island just off the farm. It has its own sandy beach, and you can order a picnic basket and enjoy a full summer day there. Our kayaks are available free of charge for getting out to the island.
Any hiking tips?
- If you want to stay active around Hoel Gård, a hike to Bangsberget is highly recommended. It is a rewarding walk with panoramic views over the landscape and Lake Mjøsa.
What local speciality should guests try?
- The best tip is to pick strawberries straight from the fields at Vien Farm on Helgøya. Few things compare to self-picking strawberries in this cultural landscape, tasting fresh berries from the Innlandet region.
