Why should guests visit your region and site this summer?
- Here you experience real moments in a historic setting. Atlungstad Distillery is a living heritage site by Lake Mjøsa, where history, local food, and cultural experiences come together.
This summer you can enjoy outdoor theatre, concerts, guided tours of the distillery, or simply a shrimp sandwich on our new outdoor terrace while the steamboat Skibladner docks nearby.
What is your favourite place in the region?
- We love places that combine history, flavour, and views. Napoleonshuset at Røhne Nedre Farm offers both culture and heritage. The strawberry café at Søndre Elton Farm is a perfect summer stop with waffles, strawberries, and beautiful views over Lake Mjøsa. Just a short distance away, you will also find what is considered one of Norway’s most scenic golf courses – Atlungstad Golf.
What is your favourite activity or experience?
- Arriving by Skibladner at our pier and stepping straight into history is something truly special. Combine it with a distillery tour and a meal made from local ingredients, and you get a summer experience with both flavour and character.
Any walking or hiking tips?
- To be honest, this is not a mountain region. But there are great opportunities for cycling and relaxed walks in beautiful surroundings.
The route from Hamar city centre along Lake Mjøsa to Atlungstad Distillery is a summer favourite – flat, scenic, and full of worthwhile stops along the way.
What local speciality should guests try?
At the distillery, aquavit spices inspire much of our menu. We use flavours from our production in both food and drink.
We are especially known for our distillery burger, generous shrimp sandwiches, and our potato soup – all made with care and local ingredients.
