Stay three nights - pay for two

Biologen sits at the outer edge of Herdla, a moraine island shaped by glaciers and meltwater over 12,000 years ago, just outside Bergen on Norway's west coast.

Here you'll find sandy beaches, open plains, and views of the fjords on every side — with a pace of life far removed from the city. Start the day with a swim from the jetty or beach before heading out to explore the island.

Herdla is one of the region's most important bird areas, and from the bird tower at Valen you might spot lapwings, ducks, or an eagle over the fjord. History enthusiasts will find coastal forts, a torpedo battery, and traces of a German base from the Second World War — the island holds layer upon layer of the past to discover. Herdla Museum also runs guided tours on select days during the summer months. For more adventure, rent a kayak and paddle to Skarvøy with its tunnels and bunkers, or play a round at Herdla Golf Course. Trails and open landscapes make it easy to explore Herdla on foot or by bike, whether for a short walk or a full day outdoors.

The restaurant puts local ingredients first, with menus that blend traditional flavors and modern expression — a fitting way to end the day with a meal that reflects its surroundings: simple, close to home, and built around what the season provides.
