A Quiet Pause by the Fjord

Fjordbris Hotel sits at the edge of Østhusvik on Rennesøy, where the Ryfylke basin opens into steep mountains, sheltered coves and a landscape that changes with the weather. It is a place where the fjord is your closest neighbour, and the pace naturally slows down.

The hotel is a small cluster of buildings, each with its own story. The former general store from 1923 still stands with its original walls and floors, now converted into spacious apartments ranging from 25 to 120 square metres. The old storage house from 1938 holds the restaurant and conference facilities, a building that served as a gathering point long before it became part of the hotel. Down by the pier you’ll find the main hotel wing, built in 2012, with six rooms and seven apartments placed right at the water’s edge.

Here, experiences follow the landscape. Many rooms and apartments offer views of the Brimsefjord, and several can be rented as holiday homes if you want a few days in quieter surroundings. Outside your door, walking paths and sheltered bays invite you out, and the fjord is perfect for kayaking. For a wider view, the hike up to Rennesøyhodnet gives a panorama across the islands. A short drive away you’ll find Utstein Monastery, Fjøløy Lighthouse and the old coastal fort.

Placed in the heart of the Ryfylke basin, Fjordbris is a natural base for meetings, gatherings and outdoor experiences. Stavanger is only a short trip away, and there is a local bus stopping right outside the hotel for guests travelling without a car. The combination of calm surroundings, open views and easy access to the city is part of why many guests return.
