Where old and new stories come together

Lindstrøm Hotel in Lærdal is idyllically located between beautiful, pastel-coloured wooden buildings in the old quarter of Lærdal - Gamle Lærdalsøyri. The hotel has been run by the same family since 1845. Today, the fifth generation, Knut Lindstrøm, runs the hotel together with his wife Britt.

The hotel has five buildings in all; the newest is from 1985 and the oldest is a beautiful 19th century building in the Swiss style. Both outside and inside, the hotel spans the period from national romanticism to modern Scandinavian design, with work from designers such as Alvar Aalto, Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Hans Brattrud and Torbjørn Afdal.

Three generations of Lindstrøm architects have been involved in the interiors and have put their mark on the hotel. This gives the hotel its quality and its unique style, which varies from room to room. Enjoy beautiful classic wallpapers in one room and modern furniture design in another.

Lindstrøm Hotel has three buildings, with a total of 86 rooms. The main building has 50 rooms, the annex has 24 rooms and the old “Nybu” building in the Swiss style has 12 rooms. All rooms have a view of the mountains or of Lærdal and all have their own bathroom, TV and wireless internet. Some rooms also have balconies.

Lærdal is a typical west country village with dramatic mountains and a fertile, cultivated landscape. The farming culture is very much alive here and the area’s dry climate makes it perfect for growing fruit, berries and vegetables. This gives the kitchen access to good local produce. Here, you will enjoy memorable food and plenty of it.
