Following a total renovation in 2014, the hotel now has 57 fully refurbished guest rooms and new common areas. “Back in 1716...”
Following an unsuccessful attack on the capital, Karl XII of Sweden turned his forces on Fredrikshald. After heavy losses on both sides, the forces defending the fortress and the town were brought to their knees. On 4 July 1716, as a last resort, the people of Fredrikshald set their town alight to drive out the Swedish king and his soldiers.
