Explore nature's wonders

From Hindsæter you can hike Besseggen, climb Glittertind, or tackle some of the 2000-meter peaks right from the hotel door. Follow marked trails through nature reserves to smaller peaks with equally fantastic views, drink from mountain streams, experience lonely expanses, and feel the wind on your face. Visit protected timber buildings and rural cultural centers in Vågå and Heidal.

The mighty Stuttgongfossen waterfall is just a short evening stroll away. Gravel roads and paths passing by idyllic old mountain farms make the valley suitable for mountain biking. The nature reserves feature exceptionally old pine forests with a variety of red-listed plant species. The primeval forest can be explored independently or as a guided experience for smaller groups.

In winter, there are ski trails around Hindsæter and near Lemonsjøen, a 20-minute drive away. There is also a ski resort with three lifts. It's possible to rent snowshoes and try the marked snowshoe trail to Stuttgongkampen (1416m above sea level). Dog sledding or ice climbing are other adventures suitable for anyone with a spirit of adventure.
