An intimate winter experience
Step out into the winter night and into a setting that feels untouched by time.
Just below Straand Hotel, the old storehouse is transformed each winter into Trapper’s Cabin: a tiny, timber-walled tavern lit by fire, candles and good company.
The evening begins outdoors around the fire pit, with a hot drink in hand and the crisp Telemark air setting the mood. From there, you move inside to the warmth of the cabin, where a hearty venison stew made from local ingredients is served with mashed potatoes and lingonberries. The meal ends with the traditional Norwegian dessert "Veiled Peasant Girls". Throughout the evening, your hosts share stories and light entertainment that add character to the experience. Drinks are available for purchase from the bar.
This is not simply dinner. It is a social, intimate winter gathering designed for friends, families and small groups who want to experience Norwegian winter culture in an authentic and memorable way.
