A small place for big ideas
Hotel Jeløy Radio sits on the southern tip of Jeløy, surrounded by open skies and the Oslofjord just outside Moss. The striking functionalist building was originally constructed in the 1930s as a shortwave radio station, and its clean architectural lines remain intact. Today, the historic exterior is paired with modern comfort and a sense of calm that defines every stay.
Once one of Norway’s most important hubs for wireless communication, the station transmitted signals across continents long before the digital age. When the site was transformed into a hotel in 1997, a new chapter began. Today, Jeløy Radio is a meeting point between past and present, where the technology that once connected the world now frames good meals, focused gatherings and well-earned downtime.
Right outside the door awaits the coastal path, beaches and views that shift with the light. Guests can rent bikes or kayaks, explore Jeløy’s galleries and studios, taste local cheeses and apple juices, or simply enjoy the quiet and the sunset from the terrace. The hotel’s restaurant, Himmel og Hav, draws inspiration from the seasons and the surrounding landscape, serving thoughtful dishes rooted in quality local produce.
Accommodation is found in the converted 1898 barn: 41 rooms where history and contemporary design meet. This distinctive wing carries traces of the site’s heritage, while offering everything needed for a comfortable stay, whether you are visiting for work or rest.
Today, Jeløy Radio is a destination for meetings, conferences, celebrations and travellers who seek nature, tranquillity and a strong architectural identity. The hotel takes pride in genuine hospitality and an environment shaped by quality, dedication and a warm, human touch.
Welcome to the small place for big ideas.
