Hosted by a Bocuse d'Or Champion

Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri is located on one of the beautiful islands in Austevoll municipality, south of Bergen, with the sea and its long history as a backdrop. The siting of an inn here was established in accordance with a royal decree of the 17th century, when the Danish King Christian IV decided that one should be built corresponding to each half- or full day's journey in the shipping lane.

Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri itself was built at the end of the 17th century and has been taking in guests for more than 300 years. Today, one of our big attractions is the hosts' son Ørjan Johannessen, recently awarded first place in the  professional cooking competition Bocuse d'Or 2015.

Bekkjarvik itself and Austevoll as a whole are lively places with a large number of annual cultural events, including concerts large and small, art exhibitions, revues and similar.
