Make the selfie of your lifetime on Trolltunga
Trolltunga is one of the most spectacular mountain formations in Norway and has therefore become a popular traveling destination. It is 1100 m.a.s.l, about 700 meters above Ringedalsvatnet in Skjeggedal.
People travel from the other side of the world to take the walk to Trolltunga. We are very lucky to have this fantastic attraction in our surrounding area. 35 min with car/ ca 30 km south from Lofthus lies Tyssedal, and Skjeggedal, where you park to walk to Trolltunga.
Remember to be there early to ensure a parking place!
The hike to Trolltunga is in the high mountains, the whole trail takes 10-12 hours and the hight difference is ca.900 meters. There is a T-marked path from the parking place in Skjeggedal to Trolltunga. It is available from about middle of June to middle of September. This is a trip that is suitable for people in normal condition. Plan well, start early in the morning and have plenty of food and drink.
Wear normal hiking clothes, bring a 30-40 liters backpack with packed lunch, water, extra socks/ clothes and (blister/gall) adhesive plaster. Good hiking boots are recommended.
The hike is marked with red T-s, there are information signs for every kilometer, so you can have the overview of how far it is left to the Trolltunga plateau.
There is little to no coverage for the mobile phone during the trip.
