A journey along Norway's longest fjord

The Sognefjord is thought to be one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. A journey along the banks of Norway’s longest fjord is difficult to describe. It has to be experienced.

The 204 km long fjord stretches its arms in between precipitous mountainsides, leading you to tiny, idyllic villages and unspoilt landscapes you could hardly imagine existed.

The scenery will take your breath away. Open fjord landscapes, green hillsides, steep mountains, vast ranges of peaks, light-blue glaciers and majestic waterfalls. In between this magnificent natural scenery are beautiful orchards, modern communities and tiny, isolated mountain farms.

Sogn has been a fruit-growing area since the Viking Age, and the area has an exciting cultural history and numerous cultural features of importance for Norway. Among these are some of the oldest and best preserved stave churches in Norway.

The Sognefjord is a delight all year round. You can go kayaking, fishing, swimming, fjord rafting or take part in a range of boat trips. The boat trip from Flåm and into the beautiful, practically unspoilt Nærøyfjord is magnificent.

One strong recommendation when in this area is a visit to the Stegastein viewing platform to take in the panorama views of the Aurlandsfjord. These are sights that will stay with you forever!
