A boutique hotel within a historical open-air museum

Herangtunet is a boutique hotel within a historical open-air museum located on a wooded hill by the Heggefjord. Imagine Lillehammer’s Maihaugen open-air museum in miniature, at the foot of the Jotunheimen mountains. As at Maihaugen, the buildings here have been collected by people passionate about preserving the cultural heritage of the area. Our hotel lies at the heart of the collection of buildings, and is built in the traditional style of the Valdres region.

The concept of the ‘boutique hotel’ emerged in London and New York in the 1980s, as an alternative to the large, impersonal hotel chains. Today, hotels of this nature are found all over the world, with the key elements being a personal atmosphere and a small number of rooms of high-quality design. The owners of Herangtunet meet these criteria 100%.
