A hideaway by the fjords
Solstrand Hotel & Bad is situated right by the fjord, only 30 km south of Bergen city and Bergen Airport. The historical hotel was built by Norway's first prime minister, Christian Michelsen in 1896, a beautiful hotel in Swiss style. Solstrand has been privatly owned by the Schau-Larsen family since 1929 and is today run by the 3rd and 4th generation.
With rich history, spectacular views, and a beautiful setting, Solstrand is a place for special occasions, whether it be a meeting, a celebration or just time to unplug.
Solstrand's location is great for exploring the great Hardangerfjord, the glacier Folgefonna, or the cultural life in the city of Bergen.
In the hotel's wellness area, you can lower your shoulders in the massage pool, watch the stars in the heated outdoor pool or take a dip in the fjord, open all year round. Upgrade the experience with a relaxing SPA treatment – the hotel offer a variety of body- and facial treatments. The 120-accre private garden invites you to stroll on one of the many trails, or to relax on a bench while enjoying the tranquility and beautiful Norwegian nature.
The food is well-rooted in the coastal culture, and Solstrand offers both Western-style specialties and continental flavors, preferably with fish and shellfish in the lead.
In autumn, winter and spring, Solstrand hosts business management programs, meetings, family gatherings, as well as spa and wellness stays. In the summer, we welcome individual travelers from all over the world. You will not meet big bus groups in the hallways, but the Bergen family, a newly married couple from New York or the Belgian retirees who explore Western Norway on motorcycles.
Treat yourself with a break from everyday life and enjoy golden moments at Solstrand.
