Havernesset in Selbu, the site of Selbusjøen Hotel & Gjestegård, has been a commercial property since 1850.

It was originally developed for merchant Frederik Birch, who in 1850 set up a trading post here with royal consent from King Oscar. Selbusjøen Hotel & Gjestegård opened its doors to the public in 1988.
