The Leirvik prison was completed in 1864 with 11 cells and was in use for about 100 years. The last guard, Bertinus ”Tinus” Larsen and his wife were known for their good care and food. Our aim today is continuing caring and maintaining the historical rumour of this building, with its white washed walls, solid rock foundation and slate flooring.
Nowadays, the cell area can be booked as a private dining area for groups or as a meeting room. ”Restauranten” (the main restaurant) is situated in the old service area beneath the cells, serving a set menu with focus on seafood. ”Vinkjellaren” (wine cellar bistro) offers simple, rustic food. On clear, warm days we also serve food and drinks at our outdoor areas.
Open:
Tuesday – saturday: 6pm – 12pm (kitchen closes at 10pm).
Sundays and mondays open on request (20 or more guests).

”Vinkjellar” (bistro) 30 guests
The cell area 26 guests (secluded area / meeting room)
The wine room 12 guests (private party, minimum of 8 persons)
