Charlottenlund

Restaurant in Stavanger, Norway

Charlottenlund was originally the country house of the bailiff Søren Daniel Schiøtz. Built in around 1828, and named after Schiøtz’s wife Charlotte, Rosenkilde’s daughter. Charlottenlund has housed a variety of activities through the years, and is said to have been home to the town’s fashionable tea-rooms, Juell's, in about 1880, when among others the author Aleksander Kielland was a regular guest. Built in the Empire style, the building was changed over the years and a mixture of styles resulted. The house has now been lovingly restored, both inside and out, to its style in around 1880, to allow its special atmosphere to blossom. Charlottenlund is a family-run establishment, and our experienced hosts put their hearts into ensuring that every practical detail is taken care of attentively and professionally, so that you need only concentrate on enjoying yourself.
