Activities at Kongsvold Fjeldstue

Outdoor

Kongsvold is located nearby Dovrefjell National Park, where the mountains provide a world of adventure both summer and winter. The tourist association has established waymarked trails west towards Reinheim and on to Snøhette, east towards Sletten in Folldal and onwards to the Rondane mountains, and south to Hjerkinn. The pilgrimage trail takes you through the hamlet, and many choose the delightful hike from Eystein church to Kongsvold, climbing over Hjerkinnhø. This pilgrimage trail continues all the way to Trondheim, with the first overnight stop at Ryphusan at the very top of Vinstradalen valley in Oppdal. Every day at 10.00 during the summer, guided tours set off into the mountains to find the musk ox. Experienced guides take guests on a fascinating trek, where they learn all about the Dovrefjell mountains and the National Park. The musk ox safari can also be held during the winter, possibly in combination with dog-sledges and snow-shoes or skis.
We cooperate with two experienced event providers to organise a full range of activities from ice-climbing and mountaineering to various team-building activities. During the summer we recommend a visit to the botanic gardens nearby the mountain lodge - a popular destination.
Oppdal has an excellent 9-hole golf course, and during the winter you can visit one of Norway's best skiing centres only a half hour drive from Kongsvold.

Indoor

Kongsvold has a small museum exhibiting a number of objects used throughout the years. There is also an interesting exhibition on the national park which portrays geology, animal and bird life and botany - visitors come from all corners of the world to study these exhibits. The museum and national park exhibition have the same opening hours as Kongsvold Kro café. We also welcome guests to the exhibition at other times of the year. We cooperate with local resources to provide music, lectures and other cultural features according to special requirements. Lectures on the fascinating history of Kongsvold are frequently held here. And every autumn, a chamber music weekend is arranged here in cooperation with the Chamber Music Festival in Trondheim.
