- Explore the islands on your own. You are almost guaranteed to find an island to yourself, where you can relax and listen in peace to the waves and the gulls (contact the tourist office for boat hire, or the Red Cross for the “bathing boat”). You can also go ashore on Saltholmen island with its lighthouse, which is open during the summer for day visitors and overnight guests www.lillesand-seilforening.no.
- LILLESANDSDAENE FESTIVAL, at the end of June – a folk festival with concerts for all ages (classical, pop, rock, folk etc.). Varied exhibitions, paintings and handicrafts. This is when the town is at its most lively. Activities such as pirate treasure hunts, the longest breakfast buffet in south Norway or bacalao served in a museum, to mention a few.

STROLLING AROUND LILLESAND. The town is home to a great variety of architecture, and the characteristic white buildings in south Norway are so much more than just white. You will find elements of Rococo, Empire, Swiss and functionalistic styles within the town centre. There is a pamphlet to guide you around the town for sale in the municipality building.
BREKKESTØ is an old outport at the tip of Justøya island. In the days of the sailing ships, Brekkestø was a busy port for ships waiting for a good wind, or seeking shelter from rough seas. Today, this is a paradise for tourists and is very popular with leisure boaters.
If you are looking for adventure, you should try DEEP SEA RAFTING. We set off at full speed over the open sea in large RIBs, sometimes reaching speeds of 65 knots. We also organise canoeing, snorkelling, abseiling and climbing – something for everyone.
